We have a dream. And soon we are going to make that dream come true. For 20 years we have yearned for a home of our own, our own community centre where we will have our own synagogue, our own educational facilities, our own social facilities... And now we are going to make that happen! We are not so foolish as to think that we shall be able to achieve all our goals in one fell swoop: we shall have to build our Community Centre in stages. But we are going to start with the first stage very soon. And that stage will be the building of the sacred heart of the centre: the synagogue.

We know that we shall have to fund this effort by ourselves. We are embarking now on a campaign to raise funds for the building of this Masorti (Conservative) Center for our congregation in Herzliya.

As already indicated, because of the economic situation both here and overseas, the initial scale of the building will be more modest than we hoped for a few years ago: initially we are aiming for a synagoguel of about 250 square meters, with the necessary small additions such as a kitchen and service facilities. According to the notice we have received from the Herzliya Municipality, they approved the building of our new Community Centre in Yehudah ha-Nassi Street in Herzliyya Zeira. Our primary appeal is to our own members and here our campaign goal is $250,000. We are also asking for contributions from abroad, but we have been cautioned that such contributions will be influenced by our own contributions. Therefore, it is important that every member of our congregation make a personal contribution, to the best of his or her ability, and thereby become a partner in this effort. Payment can be made over a period of three years. The Board has decided to create a Golden Book in which will be inscribed the names of all donors. The Ark and the Bimah will have the name of the donor inscribed for a donation of $30,000 each. Furthermore, those who donate more than $5000, $10,000, $15,000 or $25,000 will be inscribed on suitable panels in the building as follows: $25,000 FOUNDER $15,000 FOUNDATION MEMBER $10,000 BENEFACTOR $5,000 FRIEND Likewise, the Board has decided to give an undertaking to assure each donor that the entire donation will be dedicated to the building of the Community Center. Furthermore, should actual building progress not be made within three years of the final authorization of the project, a donor will be refunded his/her donation, upon request. According to Israel Income Tax Law, your contribution will be tax-deductible.
